The 21 ICONS South Africa book offers an intimate, unexpected glimpse into the lives of the individuals who shaped this country. The portraits featured include FW de Klerk in the lotus position, Phillip Tobias before his passing, Desmond Tutu with a tutu, and Nelson Mandela’s last official photographic portrait.
It celebrates those who navigated South Africa out of the darkness of apartheid, as well as life-saving crusaders, inspirational artists and others fighting to conserve South Africa’s rich natural and cultural heritage. Adrian Steirn’s images display a unique, trusting exchange of energy between a photographer and his subjects, capturing the essence of these incredible stalwarts with both creative wit and due respect. All photographs are complemented by written pieces profiling the lives of each icon, and behind-the-scenes photographs by Gary Van Wyk that tell the story behind the making of each portrait.
The 21 ICONS coffee table book is currently sold out. However, allowances can be made for special high volume orders. Please contact us for more information.
